Makro Sukhumvit 22
Project type
Architecture
Located within one of Bangkok’s busiest urban districts, Makro Sukhumvit 22 was designed to meet the unique challenges of integrating a large-format wholesale space into a dense city fabric. As the architect of this project, our approach prioritized functionality, circulation efficiency, and a seamless relationship between the building and its urban surroundings.
The design features a compact, highly organized floor plan that optimizes customer flow and product accessibility within a constrained site. Clear zoning strategies, efficient back-of-house logistics, and intuitive wayfinding were central to shaping a streamlined shopping experience. Special consideration was given to structural solutions and material selection, ensuring durability under heavy commercial use while achieving a clean, modern expression that fits within the metropolitan context.
Energy efficiency and operational sustainability were also key drivers in the project, with thoughtful integration of natural lighting, ventilation strategies, and robust building systems. Despite the compact footprint, the building maintains a spacious, accessible feel through careful spatial planning and sectional design.
Makro Sukhumvit 22 demonstrates how a high-density retail facility can be thoughtfully adapted to an inner-city environment, balancing operational demands with architectural clarity and urban sensitivity.
